The arched bridge curves steeply over still water, its crimson timbers carrying across the surface so the bridge and its reflection close into a perfect half-moon. Around it the pond is ringed in lush greenery; dappled sunlight breaks through the canopy and lands in soft patches across the lacquered rails. The composition is symmetrical, quiet, and almost ceremonial — traditional Japanese shrine architecture set into a pocket of garden.
