The Mount Fuji World Heritage Centre, Shizuoka — Mt Fuji read through the vermilion frame of a torii gate.

The composition uses the gate as a deliberate window: vermilion uprights and lintel cropping out everything except the mountain. Beyond the frame, the snow-capped peak holds against a crisp blue sky. The colour pairing carries the photograph — vermilion, white, blue — three flat planes meeting cleanly, with the architecture quietly gesturing toward what's behind it.

What the photograph holds is the small ceremony of looking at Fuji on purpose. A gate to walk under, a peak to face — a visit framed on arrival, the way the centre itself is built to do.

The palette is graphic and clean — vermilion against snow white, set on cool blue. Sympathetic to limewash plaster, raw oak, black ceramic, linen, paper-shaded light. Settles well into rooms that can hold a strong colour accent without competing: a dining room, a study, an entryway, a Japandi or contemporary living space where the red can lead.
